EPSON Robot Controller

EPSON's Robot Controllers are used to control EPSON Scara or 6-axis robots. Depending on the application, 2 robot controllers are available to choose from.

By default, all robots are shipped with the RC180 Controller. For complex applications / requirements we recommend using the RC620 Controller, which has a built-in industrial PC (Windows).

The RC180 can control 1 robot, and in FieldBus communication can be used as a "slave". The RC620 can operate more than 1 robot and can act as a FieldBus "master" too. The RC620 can also be set up to run other Windows based applications.

Programming

Robot programming is easy. It is done in the EPSON RC+ environment, which runs under Windows. This software is always included with our robots/controllers, and can be installed on multiple computers.

The RC180 can be programmed from an extral Windows laptop/desktop computer, using a USB or Ethernet network connection.

In case of the RC620 Controller, the robot programming is done on the controller itself, by connecting an external display, keyboard and mouse to it.

PLC-like functions, Multitasking

EPSON's Robot Controllers were designed to be flexible. They can control other equipment too, not just the robots. Using the built-in I/Os, they can be used similar to PLCs, to control other functions of the robotic cell.

Extensive options

The Robot Controllers were designed for wide range of applications. They can be upgraded with optional Fieldbus communication cards, additonal I/Os, camera systems, teach panels, etc.

Big possibilities in a small box

The RC180's base is just a bit larger than a standard sheet of A4 paper. Still, it has a very powerful feature set, which was optimized specifically for the EPSON scara or 6-axis robots. It was designed to work in a wide range of applications.

The controller's programming is done on an external laptop/desktop computer, using a USB or Ethernet network cable. The EPSON RC+ environment is used for programming, which provides a simple and user-friendly environment to develop industrial applications.

The RC180 Contoller's base model comes with an extensive feature set, but for more demanding applications, it can be upgraded with various options, such as: additonal I/Os, Fieldbus cards (only in "slave" configuration), camera systems, teach pendants, operational panels, etc.

Professional controller for complex applications

The RC620 was designed to act as a central control unit for robotic applications. It is capable of controlling up to 20 axes. This means that the RC620 can be used to control up to 3 x EPSON 6-axis robots or 4 x EPSON scara robots. In FieldBus communications, the controller can act as a "master" unit, controlling the other systems in the robotic cell. It can also be used for special applications like "conveyor tracking".

The RC620 Controller has a built-in industrial PC, which comes with Windows and the EPSON RC+ environment pre-installed. Robot programming is done directly on the RC620 Controller, by attaching an external display, keyboard and mouse to it. Of course the development software can be installed on an external PC as well, and then the final project is simply copied over to the controller.

The RC620 Controller features USB, Ethernet, RS-232 ports and also comes with standard PCI slots for additional expansion cards. Wide range of options are available for this controller to match even the most demanding applications.
